Well said but I do have to say I don't have as much issue with the names. When I was looking for a church they highlighted the difference in a way I understood. I will say for the youngin's (arrgghh I can't believe I said that) these names may not tell the same story to them. Since it is the 20/30 year olds we need to pull in if a new name helps then let’s do it. Maybe a question to that group asking for help in selecting names may result in good ideas. "Traditional" could be "Classic" (cliché I know). It should speak to them like "Classic Coke" in that the service may not be considered cutting the edge but its still "tastes" good. Also this is a name that would, I think, still speak to the group who doesn't necessarily want a cutting edge name. For the "Contemporary" I am having a more difficult time because it describes it for me. You need to be careful not to be insulting or corny while trying to be “more-modern”. I guess I’ll have to think about it.

Palm Sunday was a great experience for me. I couldn't hold it together for it all but it was something I wouldn't have missed.

Touched by the light of the Lord

I was driving home from college a few years ago, when everything on my car just died. I was driving down I-94 around 11:30pm, west of St. Joseph. My car was coasting at that time, with absolutely no electricity. I was the only car on the road with no street lights. I was so scared. I remember thinking "Oh God, please don't let this happen, I don't know what to do!" It was within seconds when I saw a semi aproaching in my rear view mirror, and I became frantic! The truck slowed down, and put his brights on. I thought he was trying to intimidate me. He was so close to my car, but the lights encompassed my vehicle and lit the way down the highway. I was able to see the exit and at the end of the ramp was a brightly lit gas station. The truck carefully guided me off the highway and safely to the gas station. I didn't see the truck pull into the lot, and in my confusion, never saw him drive away. I didn't even get to thank him.
I don't know if that truck was a guardian angel, or just a kind soul. All I know is that on that late, dark night, I was safe in God's hands.
I know now that we think God doesn't speak to us, or He doesn't answer our prayers, but we can find Him always. God may be in our best friend, the lady behind us in the line at the grocery store, the person driving too slow in front of us, or maybe the truck driver behind us.
Find God in ALL things and ALL people, and you will find peace.
Go forth and be that guiding light for someone else. Just because you leave the church when service is over, don't let the church leave you. God bless you, and thank you for welcoming me into your family.

Wow, that hits home. When temptation comes I don't always remember that. Knowing He is always there will remind me to do the right thing. Not because He is there judging me but because he loves us and wants what's best.

Wo, that hits home. Something I have known but don't always remember. When temptation comes, and it will, remembering He is there will help to do the right thing. Not because he is judging but because He loves us. Thank you for those words.

It is a BIG mission field out there locally! I think having an invitiation card, or business card with our details on it would be easy to give someone.
